Science Quiz Tomorrow

Your child will be bringing home study cards today, which we created in class to help prepare for the upcoming quiz tomorrow.

The study cards contain key information and concepts that we have covered in class, and they are designed to assist your child in reviewing the material before the quiz.

Please take a moment to review the study cards with your child and encourage them to dedicate some time to focused studying. This will not only help them perform better on the quiz but also instill good study habits for the future.

Thank you for your cooperation, and best of luck to your child on their quiz!

Gingerbread Man Decorating Anyone?

I’m reaching out to you because you might just have the resources or the passion for something like this, and if yes, this is your chance.  I’m excited to explore the possibility of having parents join us to lead or assist in a festive gingerbread man decorating activity. Are there any volunteers willing to contribute homemade or store-bought gingerbread men, while others may consider donating icing? I’ll supply some toppings, and students are welcome to bring their own if they prefer. With 25 students in the classroom, your participation would greatly enhance this creative experience! With 24 students in the classroom, your participation would greatly enhance this creative experience! If this would be a go, it would take place on Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 1:00 pm.  Let me know via email at bmoisin@highroadacademy.com in the next few days.

Lunar Learning: Mastering Moon Phases with Your Child

This week, your child is embarking on a celestial journey with a “Phases of the Moon” study set. The goal: arrange the phases in the correct order for an upcoming quiz on Thursday. Here’s a quick guide to make this lunar adventure both enjoyable and effective:

  1. Hands-On Sorting: Encourage your child to physically arrange the study set. This hands-on approach aids memorization and reinforces the cyclic nature of the moon’s phases.
  2. Visual Aids: Create a moon chart together as a visual reference during study sessions. Drawing the phases adds an engaging element to the learning process.
  3. Night Sky Observations: Take advantage of clear evenings to observe the moon. Real-life observations deepen understanding and connect theoretical knowledge to practical experience.
  4. Mnemonic Fun: Use mnemonics to remember the order of moon phases. Get creative with phrases or acronyms for each stage, making learning playful and memorable.
  5. Celestial Conversations: Engage your child in discussions about the moon. Share interesting facts, answer questions, and spark curiosity to foster a genuine interest in lunar phenomena.

Turn moon phase studying into a family exploration, creating memorable moments beyond the classroom. Happy lunar learning!
