Homework

In our science class, we’re currently delving into the fascinating realm of energy and its diverse forms. To reinforce our learning, students have been assigned a light homework task due on Monday, offering them an opportunity to apply what they’ve learned independently. Additionally, tomorrow, they will make study notes to take home, which will serve as valuable resources to aid in their preparation for the upcoming science quiz scheduled for Tuesday. These resources aim to empower students with the knowledge and skills they need to excel in their scientific learning.

As Valentine’s Day approaches, I’d like to address a couple of matters.  Students are welcome to share valentines with their classmates.  Please ensure there are enough for everyone in the class (26 students) and all treats must be peanut-free.  Your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated. Furthermore, students are encouraged to compile their own class list of names, as I won’t be distributing one. Considering their grade level, I’m confident they can manage this responsibility with ease.

Class News!

As we approach Thursday, we’re preparing to bid farewell to our three international students from Korea, who have brought so much excitement to our classroom. Their departure marks the end of a wonderful chapter, but it also opens the door to new beginnings.

On Monday, we’ll be welcoming two new students into our classroom family, and we couldn’t be more excited. However, it’s important to note that one of the incoming students has severe nut allergies. To ensure their safety, our classroom will become PEANUT-FREE starting MONDAY.

Your cooperation in creating a safe and inclusive space for all our students is greatly appreciated.

I’m thrilled to announce that Genius Hour will be starting in our classroom! Genius Hour is a time for students to explore their passions and interests through independent projects. It will take place every Friday.

Once students have chosen a topic for their Genius Hour project, they should come prepared with all the necessary supplies every Friday to work on it. This is an exciting opportunity for students to take ownership of their learning and dive deep into subjects they’re passionate about.

Thank you for your continued support as we navigate these transitions and embark on new learning adventures together.

March Mission: Clean Water Project and Stuffed Animal Drive

Our High School Missions team is gearing up for a March break trip to the Philippines, where they plan to install a water filter in the village they’ll be visiting. To support this initiative, we’ve set up a bulletin board in front of the office featuring 600 cups of contaminated water. Each $10 donation will transform a dirty glass of water into a clean one. You can make $10 donations at the office or in the classrooms.

In addition, we aim to collect 150 hand-sized stuffed animals to distribute to the children during our trip. They can be either brand new or gently used. Feel free to contribute stuffed animals for donation by bringing them into the classrooms.

Thank you for joining forces with us on this meaningful endeavor!

Math Update

Today, students will take home a math booklet to get ready for the math quiz scheduled for Thursday.  Kindly ensure that they return their completed homework by Thursday. The quiz will focus on assessing their ability to count bills and coins up to $100.00, as well as making change for purchases within the same monetary range.
